Life...

Life has brought me two weeks of Covid while I also move my daughter home from out of state and other daily craziness occurs.  Still feeling very tired on day 17 of Covid but otherwise ok.  Still have a small cough and a headache.
My daughter is home after her graduation.

I was able to enjoy my trip for graduation for a few days before I came home early due to feeling sick.  Then, 10 days later, had to head back to move her home.  She is here now and ready to take the next step, whatever that might be.  My son has changed his plans and is still at home also.

What happened to my empty nest?  Well, its all full again and, though a tight fit after having spread all my sewing stuff out, having to tuck it all back into one room now, it is nice to have them home again.

I have a crazy amount of fabric!  Its just unreal and I have got to get a TON of quilts made!

One project I am in the middle of...a dear friend had this happen to the blanket I made her for Christmas a few years ago (puppy in the house).  She was very upset.  When I said I should just make a new one, she really wanted this one!  So, I am in the process of trying to repair it enough to keep it in existence.  Good thing I have some quilting knowledge.

First, I sewed a new edge to a strip of organza ribbon.  Then sewed a blanket binding around that.  Tough to do since the velvet yarn is so slippery.

I am currently working on patching the holes.  Again, the slippery yarn, combined with the slippery fabric I chose...Lining things up doesn't work, everything slips and slides.  Hopefully it will at least be functional to her liking when I am done.  It will still be a comfort, I hope.

Hopefully I will feel good enough to get back to it soon.  There is so much to do around here.

Now, my husband has fallen ill with Covid as well.  I'll be glad when it has left the building!

Summer is here and I have made a huge change...

I am no longer a working woman.  I am a homemaker again and so excited!!!!

I have so much to do:

Organize and clean a house that needs a lot of TLC- so many projects to work on...

Lots of quilting, reading, writing, crochet, walking, hiking, bike riding,

And...

Train and love my 10 month old baby...

and my almost 2 year old

My son will be moving out again soon and my daughter will be moving in.  He's planning on joining the National Guard.  She will be home after earning her master's degree and deciding where to go from there.  You can imagine the boxes everywhere with all that moving in and out and my moving things home from my office at work...

First home improvement project- my  husband's handywork not mine...

All doorknobs went from that cheap old brass to the nice levers and it makes a big difference!

And, despite an injured wrist, I was able to complete a gift for this weekend...

I also started on a kit that I purchased a few months ago.  Making changes as I usually do.  Mostly trying to decide which color combo I like for the strip blocks.  My husband likes the purple but not the yellow.  I like the yellow and pink of course...The pattern had black in the middle but I don't like it at all.

happy stitching!
